The fibrinogen test measures the concentration of this protein in the blood, which is crucial for coagulation and the diagnosis of bleeding and thrombotic disorders. We use the Coagulometric technique to ensure accurate and reliable results.
The sample can be citrated blood or plasma/citrate. In both cases, the initial 3 mL from the venipuncture must be discarded. Send without centrifuging at a temperature between 2 - 8° C, or centrifuge and transfer to a plastic tube, preferably frozen. The sample must not show hemolysis, lipemia, or icterus.
