The prothrombin time test measures how long it takes for blood to clot, which is crucial for evaluating coagulation function and diagnosing bleeding disorders. We use the Coagulometric technique to ensure accurate and reliable results.
The sample can be citrated blood or plasma/citrate. In both cases, the initial 3 mL from the puncture must be discarded. Send without centrifuging at a temperature between 2 - 8° C, or centrifuge and transfer to a plastic tube, preferably frozen. The sample must not show hemolysis, lipemia, or icterus.
