The vitamin D test measures the concentration of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in the blood, which is essential for assessing the patient's vitamin D status. We use the Chemiluminescence (C.M.I.A.) technique to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Separate the sample immediately; it must not show hemolysis or lipemia. Protect from light, refrigerate, and discontinue alcohol and vitamin intake 24 hours before collection. Inform staff if you are taking glucocorticoids, phenobarbital, or phenytoin, as these can decrease vitamin D levels.
